the choices I make.

I have lived in my head for more time than I would choose to admit. From a very ‘cerebral place’, trying to analyse and make sense of the world through thinking…..(or is that also because I am a Virgo)! - well lets just say since discovering the place of my heart, my body and all its wisdom I am much clearer in what I think, feel and know to be true for me. I certainly live in a more authentic and fulfilling place both in my personal, professional and business life.

When becoming more aware of my values, that is what I believe is important in the way I work and live and it aligns with both the intelligence of my mind and the wisdom of my heart it makes it easier to make decisions and set my intentions for my days, weeks and months ahead. I don’t forecast too far ahead given the climate we are currently living in.

I love to check in with my values from time to time to help me recognise where my priorities are and how this may or may not be influencing my behaviour and decision making at the time, helping me to determine what’s truly important.

During my teachings over the last few weeks I have really prompted my students to set up an intention for their practice and consequently for their day, week or month ahead. Getting clear on these intentions can seem tricky when we’re not in alignment with who it is we are at our core. These intentions can be opportunities to make choices around what you need right now and or what will make you feel good, what will help you move forward, whether that be during a period of growth, healing or both.

My values in both my personal and my professional life align with community, connection, curiosity, empathy, compassion, growth, helping, understanding, gratitude, thoughtfulness, humility, joy and grace.

Considering my values when making decisions both in my personal life and my professional life are key to making them with confidence and clarity. When we find ourselves in states of overwhelm and uncertainty, getting clear on our own values can help guide us in a direction that aligns us with our own authenticity and truth, and it feels right.

So, is it time to check in with your own personal core values?

Take your time to highlight your top 10 and then try and narrow it down to your top 5. It might be time to get to know yourself, what’s important and how this can influence your ability to make decisions, choices and clarify your intentions on the daily based on your own values.
